An author friend of mine has a new release. I enjoyed reading this fantasy novel. The best part of the novel is Dia’s journey from being a shy girl dominated by her beautiful younger sister into a confident, powerful woman.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself as a writer?
I have always loved to read and I was still in grade-school when I thought, “I want to be an author!” I took my notepad and pen and started writing. By the time I reached my teenage years, I produced full-length drafts, but it took me well into adulthood to accomplish becoming a published author.
As a writer, I love adventures, discovering new landscapes and fascinating characters. My stories are character focused, and deeply connected to nature. I include romantic elements, but also an underlying plot. I write stories where characters experience a lot of growth and adversity, and I like a positive ending.
What inspired you to write Poisoned Splinter?
I imagined a story where a couple was stuck in a dangerous environment. They are working through it together, until he begins to lose control of his mind. This book was built around that idea. It was terrifying and fascinating to write!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I’m going to have to say Dia, the leading lady, because she is very tenacious, and she grows so much during the story. This book is really about her becoming the heroine of her own story, and finding the power within herself to do what needs to be done.
What are you working on currently?
I have several sequels to existing books in the works, but I’ve had a fantasy, loosely based on Norse mythology, in the back of my mind for a long time. Now that Splinter is out, I’m trying to decide which direction to go next.
